It’s really incredible how versatile lemons are! Not only is the juice great for your body internally, lemons can do wonders for your skin, hair, combat body odor and even keep your kitchen spick and span!

Here are a few of the ways I use lemon:
1. To Detox and Alkalize the body
Mix the juice of half a lemon in a glass of room temperature water and drink on an empty stomach first thing in the morning.
2. Dry up Breakout Areas and Lighten the Skin
Take a slice of lemon and rub on breakouts and darker areas of skin. Leave on 10-15 minutes and rinse off with water (there may be some itchiness while it’s on your skin, do a test patch if you are really sensitive).
3. Natural Highlights for the Hair and Clean the Scalp
I used this when I was a teenager and I must say it does definitely lighten up the hair, but since I’m a brunette it’s not as obvious a contrast as it would be for lighter hair colors!
To get rid of build up, pour lemon juice over your scalp and work it in with your hands for a few minutes. Then continue with your hair washing routine as usual.
4. Clean up Odor and Bacteria in the Kitchen
Lemon has anti-bacterial properties, so it’s perfect for naturally cleaning up bacteria from raw chicken, meat or even fish on your chopping boards, knives, sinks, countertops,…yes I am a cleaning fanatic, lol. Plus it will remove any yucky smell from your hands and finger afterwards!
