How I Released my Baby Weight…Naturally!

For those of you that don’t know my story… I have three beautiful children and I had them all in a span of three years!  Phew, yeah you can say that again. I had only six months break in between each pregnancy and I didn’t have the chance to release all the weight before the next baby came along.  After my third baby was born, I weighed 20 kgs more than my pre-pregnancy days (the heaviest I have ever been!). With realistic goals in mind, along with patience and a genuine love for my body no matter the shape or size, we celebrated Leelou’s first birthday last month and I am thrilled to write that I am one clothes size away from what I wore four years ago. YAY!

I am excited to share with you my ‘been there, done that’ secrets to my natural weight release (not ‘loss’ because you’ll always be looking for it!):

  • Breastfeeding

I successfully breastfed all three of my babies and although I quickly transformed into an non-stop eating machine with an insatiable appetite, I still found that week by week my tummy was shrinking and I was shedding the pounds! The benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby are endless, so I strongly encourage all new mothers to go for it.

  • ‘Mommy and Baby’ Ayurvedic Massage

This is an Indian tradition that involves special body massage, ayurvedic oils and tummy wrapping for both baby and mommy during the first 40 days after delivery.  After hearing so much about this from my Indian friends and its wonderful benefits for the body, I booked a one month treatment for myself and my youngest one after I delivered. I was blown away with how it helped me relieve my water retention,  healed my body while I recovered from my third delivery in three years and with the daily wrapping- my tummy was flat in record time.

  • Yoga and Meditation

During my pregnancies and post-delivery (I always waited until after my 6 weeks check-up) I made sure that I incorporated yoga into my routine.  It’s one of the few forms of physical exercise that I found connects both the mind and body for an unmatchable high along with immediate relaxation, feeling energized and physically stronger, mental clarity and emotional balance. This helped me survive the sleepless nights, my hormonal up and downs, my seemingly endless pregnancies and deliveries, and gave me another way to burn more calories without feeling like it’s a chore.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar with Water

Once I stopped breastfeeding, I would boost my metabolism up a notch by drinking a glass of water with a few tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar. I would drink this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for at least one-two months.  I was shocked how fast the extra fat around my waist and thighs was melting away! This one REALLY works.

  • Minimize the Sugar and Dairy intake

I had unbelievable cravings for all things dairy and sweet during my pregnant years and I found that by the third baby, my body was very acidic.  I had rashes and irritations pop up all over my body along with a feeling of sluggishness and lack of energy.  So I cut my diary and sugar intake to a minimum while counteracting the acidity with my green juice and my magical morgina discovery (a superfood, will write about this one) to get my body back on track again.  I noticed that my rashes healed, my energy levels skyrocketed and my weight was shedding off the fastest that it ever had before.

  • My Fountain of Youth Juice

I actually have this recipe as my first blog post because it is truly that AMAZING.  I began juicing around five years ago and I found the results beyond impressive.  I like juicing because all the fabulous nutrients from the veges and fruits go straight into the bloodstream without having to go through the digestion process of eating foods. I quickly noticed my skin vibrant and glowing, hair shining and to my surprise my body toning up and tightening. I feel so fresh and alive when I drink this juice for my breakfast, I recommend this for everyone!

  • Positive Mind Set with a big sprinkle of Patience

Hands down the most important point of all, a positive mind set will take you a long way.  Negative thoughts about yourself and your body will rarely help you to get to your ideal body weight or shape. Over the years I learned how to love my body no matter what changes it went through and eventually I stopped comparing myself to what I looked like before I had my children.  Love, accept and be patient with yourself for whatever you are now and you will find that your journey in achieving your weight release goals will be a piece of cake.
